Hello and welcome,
I'm Shasta Jade and I make ceramics from my home studio at Bells Beach, Victoria.
I came to pottery nearly 10 years ago during a period of recovery from serious illness. I had stopped working as a vet and was looking for a happy distraction. Pottery brought me so much joy that before I knew it my garden shed was being converted into a studio and I was learning to use my first little kiln. These days I have a big farm shed where I can make porcelain ceramics and teach small groups wheel throwing and hand building. I also built a mini wood fired kiln where I fire porcelain ceramics using fallen timber as fuel.
Pottery, for me, is a process of never ending discovery and adventure. The pieces that I make are calm and soft and bring peace to my home and I hope to yours too!

Here on the Surf Coast of Victoria we are fortunate to be surrounded by exceptionally beautiful cliffs, beaches, flora and fauna. I aim to bring the local environment into the pieces I make whether it be the shapes, textures or colours. Shasta Jade Ceramics have a strong natural element with soft colours, natural slips and sometimes raw or unglazed areas.
I enjoy exploring new techniques and am currently experimenting porcelain paper clay and have built a small wood fired kiln that is fired with fallen branches from my property. To hear more about this and future adventures you can follow me on instagram @shasta.jade or visit by appointment. Thanks for stopping by!
